Water of Leith

Bat surveys

Water of LeithPhase one of The Water of Leith Flood Prevention Scheme covers a large stretch of river between Bonnington and Veitch's Square in Edinburgh. The proposed works require the removal of substantial bank side vegetation including several mature trees. The Wildlife Partnership undertook a suite of bat surveys in support of the Flood Prevention Scheme and provided advice on mitigation and enhancement. Surveys were completed in a timely fashion ensuring works could continue without interruption and alternative roosting habitat was erected along sections where impacts were identified.
